MISFITS The Devil’s Rain. 2011 US limited edition 16-track vinyl LP pressed on Coke Bottle Clear with Bronze Haze & White Splatter Vinyl, the seventh studio album by horror punk band through their own Misfits Records label; gatefold picture sleeve with printed inner. This was only available via mail order through the Cinderblock online webstore. The sleeve displays just a little light edgewear and the inner has a couple of splits, whilst the vinyl remains ‘near as new’ with very little signs of play. Limited to only 300 copies.

Various – House Of Wax (Music From The Motion Picture)
3 sides of mostly mall metal, with some Stooges and Joy Division thrown in for a bit a credibility. Fans of that polished screamo metal will love this, side 4 is etched for your pleasure. BTW, RSD First means that this will get a wider release, sometime in the near future. If you missed out on RSD, another variant should be coming in the next months.
Ennio Morricone – Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
I’d guess most people didn’t even know a sequel to The Exorcist was made. It fell well short of any expectations set by the first; that’s the most terrifying horror movie experience an 11 year old can have, especially if you grew up Roman Catholic. Morricone’s film score is the highlight for me, the part worth re-experiencing. It’s not as eerily dissonant and terrifying as many of the other horror/giallo genre he’s scored, but the Morricone stamp is all over this. Hardcore Morricone collectors will recognize the themes immediately, and they are effective. Not sure Exorcist II has ever been reissued but it seems like a pretty slam dunk choice to get the vinyl reissue treatment, hopefully not of the overpriced and bogged down with gimmicks variety. That’s why I stopped buying new soundtracks altogether; the music is being held hostage by insanely priced packaging, which is nice but isn’t why I’m buying it. Don’t get me started on some soundtrack labels…
First Time on Vinyl
I saw this movie at the theater, during that one week it played in a few theaters. It was really cheesy; that’s why I bought the ticket and enjoyed the ride. Never thought I’d be hearing the soundtrack on vinyl; now I’m thinking I may have to revisit this movie I haven’t thought about in 30 years. The soundtracks make you watch the movies, the movies make you buy the soundtracks. That’s pretty perfect, I’d say. Trifecta if a book is involved as well.

Gonna watch the movie right after I listen to the soundtrack, both came out recently. I’m guessing it’ll aim straight for the Troma crowd, just like the first one did. The first one was gloriously craptacular, one can only hope the sequel sinks to equal depths. Go google “Wolfcop centerfold”, I’m sorry/you’re welcome.
P.S. Shooting Guns are an awesome Stoner Rock band from central Canada somewhere. Stoner rock horror comedy soundtrack? Yes!
